Mian Javed Latif, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, said two serving brigadiers had also been convicted, along with former Inter-Services Intelligence chief Faiz Hameed.

Taking his pseudonym, Javed Latif tweeted that he had always maintained that enablers existed within institutions. He added that other voices were now echoing the same position and the defense minister had also acknowledged the presence of individuals within state institutions who wanted former Prime Minister Imran Khan to return to power.

“I have been saying all along that there is facilitation. Now others are saying it too, and today even the defense minister said that some people within the institutions want to bring Imran Khan back to power,” he said.

Continuing his remarks, Javed Latif said that, according to his information, two active brigadiers had also been punished alongside Faiz Hameed.

Commenting on the political conduct of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N leader said that Nawaz Sharif never speaks against his enemies or those who target him personally when they face difficulties or stand trial. He recalled that when Nawaz Sharif had appointed five people in the past, they were then in positions of power. However, he added that several party members jumped off the stage, while even allied parties appeared unstable.

Javed Latif further said that Faiz Hameed had family ties with several influential personalities, including former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former chief justices Saqib Nisar and Umar Ata Bandial. He added that several PML-N leaders had also met these people in the past.

He stressed that interactions should not be judged selectively, saying it should not be considered a betrayal if someone meets individuals on one side, but acceptable if they meet those on the other. “If something benefits someone, it is considered a good thing, but if it causes harm, then action is taken,” he said.
