Two witnesses testify in the Toshakhana-II trial

Rawalpindi:

The Toshakhana-II affair against the founder of the PTI, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, reached a decisive stadium, the accusation having fulfilled the testimonies of his last two witnesses at the hearing on Monday in Adiala prison.

The case focuses on an expensive set of jewelry – a necklace, earrings, bracelets and rings – offered by the Saudi royal family to former Prime Minister Imran Khan. According to the investigators, the whole was evaluated at an artificially low price, allowing Khan and his wife to buy it from a fraction of his real value, thus resulting in considerable loss to the national treasury.

Special central judge Shah Rukh Arjumand recorded statements by Nab Mohin Haroon officer and deputy director of FIA, Shahid Pervaiz. With their deposits, evidence of the accusation officially concluded.

Until now, 20 witnesses have testified and the counter-examination was completed on the 18th. Defense lawyers will contravene the last two witnesses on September 24 (tomorrow).

Imran and Bibi were both produced in court, while the three sisters of Imran and Bibi’s daughter, Mehrunisa, were present in the courtroom. Senators Mishal Yousafzai and Ali Zafar also attended the audience.

On behalf of the defense, lawyers Arshad Tabraiz and Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry appeared, while the special prosecutor of the FIA Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Umair Majeed Malik represented the accusation.

The case experienced several legal turns. In July 2023, an Islamabad court prevented the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from continuing the reference to Toshakhana against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, transferring the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
