Tyreek Hill must find a new team in the NFL after the Miami Dolphins released the five-time All-Pro wide receiver on Monday.

Hill promises that no matter which team signs him, someone will be “arrived and locked in.”

Hill wrote a lengthy caption on Instagram Monday following the Dolphins’ decision to let him go before the start of the 2026 season, as their new regime is already ushering in big changes to the roster.

Besides Hill, the Dolphins are expected to release defensive end Bradley Chubb, offensive lineman James Daniels and wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

Hill, who turns 32 in March, remembered that in his position while looking forward to what the future holds.

“Every chapter of life has taught me something,” Hill wrote on Instagram. “This one taught me leadership, resilience, and most of all, gratitude. The love I have for this game is inexplicable. And right now, this offseason, for the first time ever, The Cheetah is completely turned on and locked in. Focused.

“The Cheetah isn’t slowing down. Ever. …So for everyone wondering what’s next…just wait. The Cheetah will be back…Born Again.”

Hill also thanked the Dolphins organization, his teammates, coaching staff and fans for their time supporting him throughout his four seasons in Miami.

“From the moment I arrived in Miami, I felt Love. You believed in me. You pushed me. You celebrated with me. These last few years have been some of the most significant of my life and career,” he wrote.

“Together we built something special for the city of Miami.”

Hill is recovering from a season-ending injury he suffered on September 29 against the New York Jets, requiring surgery to repair significant damage to his left knee, which included a torn ACL.

So, Hill’s time in Miami came to an end after a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 immediately paid dividends in terms of offensive production. With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Hill finding quick chemistry, the latter totaled 1,710 yards on 119 receptions with seven touchdowns in his first season with the team.

Hill followed that up by leading the NFL in receiving yards (1,799) and touchdowns (13) in 2023 to earn his eighth consecutive Pro Bowl nod.

He certainly lived up to the four-year extension he got from the Dolphins, which was worth up to $120 million. At the time, he became the highest-paid receiver in the NFL.

But, in 2026, Hill was projected to represent a whopping $51 million cap hit. So it’s an easy decision for new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley to leave, giving them more room to improve the roster elsewhere.

However, all was not well for Hill in Miami, as off-the-field drama also made headlines. He was also arrested during an altercation with law enforcement outside Hard Rock Stadium before a 2024 game.

This season, after his injury, he got to the point that he no longer knew what he wanted to do with his footballing future.

“At the end of the day, I feel like this decision is based on how I feel and my mindset at the time,” he said on the podcast with Terron Armstead, Hill’s former teammate on the Dolphins. “I’m happy with the career I’ve had. I love playing football. I love it, but it takes a lot. It takes a lot mentally, it takes a lot physically.

“I’m at the point where I need to have a conversation with mom, my family, everyone. Wherever I am at that moment, the decision will be made, but I know right now I haven’t had time to live in the moment.”

Hill has made his decision now and he’s looking forward to a free agency process.
