Ancient UFC fighter Ben Askren says he turned to faith after waking up from a medically induced coma and undergoing a double pulmonary transplant after a serious case of pneumonia.

During an interview with Flowrestling published last week, the first Olympic wrestler talked about his trip and the moment when he woke up from a coma and decided to become a Christian.

“There were several times when they thought they were dead. As if I was dead, it’s the other side,” Askren said in the video. “I woke up and just decided that I was a Christian. So it’s crazy.”

Askren continued explaining that while he frequented the church with his wife, he never felt the call to faith.

“I went with my wife to the church for 15 years because it was part of the agreement. I said:” Well, I am not a Christian, but I will support you. “And it was really weird when I woke up, I say to myself” I have to do it “. You know? So it was a little weird,” He continued.

“”[I have] So much gratitude for all those who helped. So many people have given money, looked at our children, have given food, many friends come to go with me – so much gratitude to be with me. “”

Ben Askren is released from the hospital after an exhausting recovery of double lung transplantation

Askren remembers going to the hospital in May with what he initially thought was a kind of back pain. Instead, the veteran was placed on a fan in June and finally placed on the list of donors for pulmonary transplantation on June 24.

His operation was a success, and Askren visited social networks to update his fans and supporters when he continues his recovery journey. In his last update this week, he told fans that he had made his “almost third round” around his prosecution.

“Make good progress. I hope you do the same with your life.”

He went to MMA’s fights when he made his debut in Bellator in 2010. He participated in a championship before moving to the UFC. In 2021 Askren fought Jake Paul in a boxing match, and he was eliminated in the first round.
