A man who says he lost $ 784 million in Bitcoin (BTC) in a landfill speaking to investors of the potentially purchase of the land, BBC reported on Monday.
“I recently discussed this option with investment partners and it is very good on the table,” said James Howlls, according to the BBC.
Howlls said that his ex-girlfriend had wrongly threw a hard drive containing 8,000 bitcoin on the discharge site on Newport path in 2013. In the past decade, he has made requests to the Newport Council for Trying to recover it and said it was widely ignored. The Newport Council refused to comment, said the BBC.
He attempted to continue the Council for 495 million pounds ($ 646 million), the advanced valuation of Bitcoin in early 2024, but his case was rejected by the judge in January. The authority plans to close the site during the coming financial year and has permission to build a solar energy farm on the ground.
