- Una Watch is a new type of lasting and modular laptop
- It has a GPS, health monitoring and a 10 -day battery life
- All its parts can be replaced and you build the watch yourself like Lego
A SmartWatch company, based in Edinburgh, has received an injection of financing of £ 300,000 of SFC Capital while it seeks to become a sustainable modular alternative to the best Apple watches and the best boys on the portable market.
The UNA watch is “the first completely modular and repairable GPS sports watch in the world”, with Shades of Garmin in its design and a list of complete specifications.
Una Watch is an original idea of Lewis Allison, former CTO of Golf Brand Shot Scope, which appears regularly in our best golf watch guide. After years of frustration with portable devices “designed for the arrangement” and inspired by Fairphone and Framework laptops, the UNA watch was born.
“Una Watch allows users to exchange individual components, such as batteries, screens and sensors, rather than replacing the whole device,” the company told Techradar. Not only does it make the united and more durable unique watch, but it also opens the way to future modular upgrades, including more advanced health monitoring, cellular connectivity and even better display.
The UNA watch is about to get started via Kickstarter, and the company claims that it has more than 7,000 people who have recorded interest, and more than 1,000 deposits have already put the UNA watch.
Una: Meet the modular GPS sports watch
On the surface, UNA is very similar to your medium Garmin precursor, but under the hood, it is a very different story.
The UNA watch has a double frequency GPS, an altimeter and an accelerometer, complete health monitoring, an advanced heart rate sensor, a 10-day battery life, a 240 x 240 MIP display always on 1.2 inch (recalling the USB-C Garmin load.
All these features are powered by modular components that you can easily replace or upgrade at home. So if you damage the screen, you can just order a new one and replace it yourself.
UNA claims that its health tools include high -precision optical sensors for continuous and precise monitoring of heart rate and information on cardiovascular performance in real time. The company also offers customizable heart rate areas and alerts, detailed post-training data, etc.
The cost? The UNA Watch PDSF is $ 335 (pricing and availability in the United Kingdom and Aus TBC), or you can mark a $ 100 discount if you deposit $ 1 before launch.

Thanks to the UNA application, The Watch works with iOS and Android and is the hub for data and ideas training, customizations and integration with the best fitness applications, including Strava.
All this makes reading extremely attractive and is a durability record which, at first glance, is ashamed of the Apple Watch.
Apple was recently continued to affirm that Apple Watch marketing “ carbon neutral ” is misleading, and the best efforts of the company apart, its portable devices are largely incomparable by design. The company offers battery life services, if not, any other damage generally leads to costs so high that it is more effective to simply buy a new model, and it is a similar story on the portable clothing market.
Una seeks to reverse this, and the watch on paper seems promising. The specification sheet does not rush the world, but it is a solid start for a watch that promises to last you much longer than your average laptop, and which could offer modular upgrades in the future.
The UNA Watch Kickstarter is launching on April 2 and you can register to reserve one for the aforementioned VIP discount on the UNA website.
