The UNISWAP community offers two governance proposals in Green-Léclairing to propel the growth of the Unichain network and the Uniswap V4 protocol.
The initiatives, nicknamed “UNISWAP UNLEASHED”, have presented a new subsidy program and liquidity incentives while referring to the first stages for a “price change”, a passing protocol vote that would pay a part of the negotiation costs to the UNISWAP UNISWAP holders.
The relevant governance stations did not directly mention a change in fees, but noted plans to “activate income”.
The Foundation requested $ 95.4 million for its grant budget and $ 25.1 million for two -year operations, plus $ 45 million for liquidity incentives to attract users and growth of fuel ecosystems through developer campaigns.
The two proposals have passed with more than 80% of holders of plain tokens in favor, according to governance data.
The adoption could now set in motion the switch of the costs, a long -standing community objective which would transfer certain protocol income – currently more than a billion dollars per year – from liquidity suppliers to UNI holders. Its activation, delayed by past passed votes, depends on the legal preparations of the Foundation.
The proposal was initially offered in July 2021 to control the switch for a small set of uniswap protocol pools. The switch will not increase the fees for users, but will keep a small part of what is currently paid to liquidity suppliers (LP), or users who lock their tokens on Uniswap in exchange for costs.
However, this could mean lower income than UNISWAP LPs and more awards for holders of Uniswap University of Token, which accumulates the value of UNI holders – leaving the proposal suspended in recent years. One of these voices did not succeed in 2023 after being voted against the holders of influential tokens.
Part of the stages towards income sharing would be to make the UNISWAP Foundation – a non -profit organization that helps to develop and maintain UNISWAP – a legal entity, which gives it clarity on legal status and the ability to contract with other protocols.
“If our verification is successful and we think that the creation of a legal entity for UNISWAP governance is in its best interest, we will propose to governance to implement a legal entity structure,” said the proposal.
“If it is adopted, this stage will open the way to the potential introduction (or reintroduction) of a governance proposal for the delegators to gain protocol income,” he noted.
