35 students received academic scholarships, more than 500 received various forms of financial aid
The University of Greenwich organized its graduation ceremony at the Sindh Governor’s House on Saturday, during which around 35 students received academic scholarships, while over 500 students received various forms of financial assistance.
Prizes were distributed to 362 degree holders, including 82 undergraduates, 57 masters students and other graduates, during the event.
Sindh Governor and Chancellor Kamran Tessori was the chief guest on the occasion. Those present included University of Greenwich Vice-Chancellor Seema Naaz Mughal, businessman Haji Rafiq Pardesi, US Consul General Charles Goodman, Deputy Consuls General of Oman and UAE, and Consuls General of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Iraq, Qatar, Thailand and Hong Kong, and Merchant General Hamdan.
Addressing the ceremony, Governor Tessori highlighted the role of private universities in providing Pakistani students access to quality education, saying that private universities in Pakistan are “no less than any university in the world”. He urged students to achieve success through innovation, hard work and dedication.
The governor also called on the diplomatic community to facilitate visa procedures for young Pakistanis so that they can pursue higher education abroad.
VC Mughal, in her speech, highlighted the leadership role of women in various sectors, saying that women were making progress in all fields, which she described as a positive and encouraging sign for the society.
During the ceremony, honorary degrees were awarded to Senator Abdul Haseeb, owner of Brooks Pharma, Chairman of All Pakistan Newspapers Society and Managing Director of Geo and Jang Group, Senator Sarmad Ali, CEO of ARY Networks Jarjees Seja and Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Punjab, Zafar Masood. Several consuls general also received gold medals.
