Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered Tuesday that the Karachi-Chaman National Highway (N-25) is converted into a high-quality highway, corresponding to the standards of Pakistani motorways.
The Prime Minister chaired a high-level exam meeting at the Prime Minister’s house to assess the progress of construction and upgrading the 790-kilometer-long Karachi-Chaman highway (N-25), a vital transport corridor said, a statement from the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister stressed that the project was a cornerstone of the socio-economic development of Balutchistan.
“Improving the Karachi-Chaman motorway is not only a road project-it is a strategic rescue buoy for the prosperity of Balutchistan,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that instead of transmitting the recent reduction in petroleum products to the general public, the government has redirected these savings to finance the Expressway project. “All the provinces supported this decision, symbolizing national unity and a shared commitment to the elevation of Balutchistan,” he added.
The Prime Minister said that once finished, the journey time between Karachi and Shaman – in progress approximately 6 pm – would be reduced to only 6 to 8 hours. “This will strengthen the trade, transport and convenience of the public along the course.” He added.
During the meeting, strict instructions were issued to guarantee high -level construction standards and timely completion completion within two years. The PM also ordered that environmental guarantees be incorporated during construction and that third -party validation is carried out after the completion.
To facilitate local traffic and improve accessibility, bypass will be built around all large cities along the route. In addition, the Prime Minister asked the Chief Minister of Balutchistan to coordinate with the services relevant to the appropriate acquisition of land.
The meeting was informed that the highway will be a two -lane two -lane road. The delays in the project had already been caused by financing shortages, which have now been processed by the new budgetary approach to the government. The construction of the Khuzdar-Mastung section has already started and planning is underway for five segments between Karachi and Khuzdar.
Balutchistan governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti thanked the Prime Minister for his dedicated accent on the development of Balutchistan.
The meeting was followed by Darrier Minister of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema and other senior officials. The Minister of Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and the chief minister Sarfraz Bugti joined via Video Link.
