US Congressman Pitles Crypto ATM for federal government buildings

A member of the Texas Congress asks the Federal Government to consider installing automatic distributors of cryptocurrency tickets in federal buildings to help promote the position of pro-digital assets pushed by President Donald Trump.

The representative launches Gooden asked the head of the General Services Administration – the agency which maintains the government’s buildings and real estate – to consider putting automated dispute machines in these installations as a “signal to the public that the government adopts innovation in a safe and responsible manner”, according to a Thursday letter examined by Coindesk.

“The expansion of accessibility to crypto automatic counters in federal buildings is aligned with President Trump’s vision to position the United States as a world leader in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology,” he said.

The GSA already hosts automatic distributors of traditional tickets in some of its facilities, according to its website.

The letter requested the interim administrator of the GSA, Stephen Ehikian, examines the feasibility of the execution of the proposal in a manner which includes “clear directives for the installation and operation of the automatic distributors of crypto tickets, focusing on robust identity verification measures and transparency of transaction costs.”

This proposal lands because the devices drew attention to their use in scams, inspiring Senator Dick Durbin, an Illinois democrat, to push the Atm Fraud Prevention Act Crypto which would make limits to large transactions. And New Jersey weighs a new invoice that would force operators to ATM to warn users of potential scams and provide live customer service.

At least one of the ATM operators, Bitcoin Depot, reported last month that machine transactions and income was down, even if Bitcoin trading (BTC) increased during the recent price increase.

The assignments of the Gooden Committee do not put him in direct contact with the legislation of cryptography which currently goes through the Congress, although the defense group of the defense group with Crypto gave it a “” note for the conviviality of industry. As a member of the first -year -old congress in 2019, Gooden co -author a bill to declare that the stable -co -managed should be regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, but more recently, he has co -pacarinized legislation that opposed a digital currency of the American Central Bank (CBDC) – Aligning with the industry in the general opposition of digital government dollars.
