The Norwegian tennis star Casper Ruud will seek to channel part of the magic he had in the US Open of 2022 and will return to the final of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Ruud lost this final against Carlos Alcaraz in four sets. This year, he hoped to get off the right foot with a victory over Sebastian Osters in the first round of the tournament.

The seeded n ° 12 opened on being back in the Big Apple for the US Open and noted that there was not one thing that he had not missed when he returned.

“It is complicated to be on the ground with people who smoke joints. Having to inhale this smell of marijuana when we are tired is not at all fun,” Ruud told Norwegian media. “The intensity of the odor is sometimes very strong.”

He added that the smell of marijuana was the “worst thing about New York”.

“The smell is everywhere, even here on the courts,” said Ruud, via tennis up to date. “We have to accept it, but it is not my favorite smell. It is quite boring to play, tired and a few meters away, someone smokes marijuana. We can do nothing unless the law is reversed, but I have strong doubts that will happen.”

New York legalized marijuana in 2021, but the USTA national tennis center Billie Jean King is a smoke-free establishment, according to the United States website.

However, he did not prevent Marijuana smoke from entering the building. Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios complained of the smell in 2022.
