Apple announced that the lossless audio update with AirPods Max with USB-C is launching today, in addition to the release of iOS 18.4 for iPhone.
Apple revealed that the AirPods Max update with personalized space audio without loss and latency had previously arrived, but without an exact date – and here it is.
This is the first audio support completely lossless for a pair of AirPods, and it provides a lossless support of 48 kHz 24 bit on USB-C, with a promise that this also causes latency to zero efficiently, which makes it ideal for audio production or the game.
(Max original airpods were lossless, with support for wired connections, but via an active cable that took an analog signal, converted it to digital, then converted it into analog into the headphones, so too much conversion to be Really without loss.)
Apple says you can connect to a Mac, iPhone or iPad to get a loss-free sound, but we will check if it also works with all other USB-C sources.
Apple also launched its own 3.5 mm cable to USB-C, to allow AirPods Max with USB-C to work with an analog audio output (which finally makes them with plane entertainment systems).
How to make sure you have the update
Airpods updates should be automatic, although Apple recently explained how to launch Airpod updates in equipment if you need it.
You will need iOS 18.4 on your iPhone, then follow these steps:
- Put your AirPods Max in the Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad or Mac, which must be connected to Wi-Fi
- Put your airpods max to load
- Wait 30 minutes
- Check if you have the new update
To check if you have the update, put your airpods, open the Settings application, press your AirPods Max, then scroll down and check if the bed “7th” bed version.
AirPods Max with USB-C class always among the best wireless headphones despite their age, thanks to high sound quality (even at their high price) and tons of unique features for Apple users, including personalized space audio, automatic switching between Apple devices and finding my support.
We had to delete them from our list of the best travel headphones since the arrival of the USB-C version, however, due to their lack of cable contribution for plane trips. This update means that we could finally add them.
