- The wireless flow turntables formerly Sonos de Victrola had a big update
- A free software upgrade adds smart Bluetooth, upnp and roon ready in Roon
- … And given the year Sonos, it is a reasonable expansion
The turntables connected to Sonos de Victrola obtained a significant upper upgrade to add a wireless wireless connectivity – and given the diverse 12 months that Sonos had, it is difficult to see the movement as something other than Victrola pulling Sonos for this embarrassment “I will perfectly honest, I think we have started to see other people”.
Victrola has expanded the wireless streaming capacities of his carbon victrola stream, Victrola Stream Perl, Victrola Stream Onyx (not to be confused with knitting-resonant with high contents) and Bluetooth-APTX.
What is added? Well, you might say that Victrola does not only want see Other wireless giants, in addition to Sonos, he actually goes for a three -way (sorry). In addition to the “Works with Sonos” management, the four flow turntables now get:
Plug and universal game (UPNP): This allows your automatically jumping flow platform on a network of similar compatible products via Wi-Fi, to broadcast wireless vinyl on UPNP compatible audio, including wireless speakers, A / V receivers, Hi-Fi streamers and smart televisions.
Bluetooth output – This (as you probably know) allows you to diffuse directly to the best Bluetooth speakers and the best wireless headphones, bringing a simple wireless sound to your home.
Roon Ready Relay – Distrust vinyl up to 24 bits / 48 kHz of Flac quality without loss to any ROON termination point.
Victrola tells us that the update is already live in his Stream Sapphire model, but automatically takes place at all carbon, onyx and victrola pearls.
Make new connections
The range of Victrola flows was, as Victrola indicates in its press release “previously designed exclusively for transparent integration with the Sonos ecosystem”, but you do not need to be a genius to see that the range is much more versatile (and desirable) now, thanks to this free update. We felt that the Sapphire flow had difficulty validating its higher price in an intense examination, but this update could well change things.
It is not a secret for anyone that 2024 was the year that Sonos slipped, so it is just to say that if a product does not do so to have To honor an agreement only Sonos, its manufacturers should certainly try to branch and have new friends.
The automatic software update will be deployed, indicates the company, to all the existing and future platforms of the Victrola, Onyx, Pearl and Sapphire flow, requiring any manual installation. Existing owners can expect to automatically see the update. In the application (where they would generally select a default Sonos speaker), users will now find tips for additional options, including Bluetooth. The application will also provide “simple instructions to switch between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth using the button” according to Victrola.
Complete disclosure: I have a Victrola flow carbon and a sonos Five on which I listened to vinyl from 2022 to, AHEM, just after the SONOS application updates started to cause big problems. I moved home in November of last year, and the two products are currently languishing in storage, for this reason. Now however – alongside the news that Sonos seems to have corrected the horrible delay on volume control – I will make a trip to this storage unit, to dig up my Sonos / Victrola vinyl system formerly loved.
I will let you know how it goes – and please, if you also have a victrola flow, do not hesitate to tell me in the comments what you think.
