A video widely broadcast on social networks in Pakistan shows allegedly that a man is violently attacked by another man in the province of Punjab. Social media users have called on the Punjab government to arrest the striker.
The complaint is false. The video was not filmed in Pakistan, it was recorded in Bangladesh.
Claim
On June 26, a user on X (formerly Twitter) published a 45-second clip with legend: “Help me wake up Maryam Nawaz [the chief minister of Punjab]. “In the video, a man can be seen violently beat another man.
The same user added: “This shameless person must be stopped immediately, regardless of the dispute.”
The position has since been seen more than 73,500 times, republished more than 500 times and liked more than 660 times.

Do
The video was filmed in Bangladesh, not in Pakistan.
De facto check carried out an inverted image search for the key images of the video and traced it in Manikganj, a district of the DACCA division of Bangladesh. The video was published by Jamuna Television based in Bangladesh on June 27 with the title: “The man arrested for having harassed the businessman by Beard in Manikganj”.
In the description, Jamuna reported that the incident occurred on June 23. A man named Nasim Bhuiyan was filmed by harassing and beating the owner of a computer and local training center. Bhuiyan was arrested later.

Verdict: The pretending viral video show a man attacked in Punjab, Pakistan, was filmed in Manikganj, Bangladesh. Several Bangladais media reported the incident, identifying the attacker and confirming that he was arrested.
