Ngo Thi Theu, a 30-year-old Vietnamese who was involved in a cryptocurrency scam which deceived 2,600 victims and trained loss totaling $ 300 million, was arrested in Thailand, Asia News Network said.
The organizations responsible for the application of laws had put an interpol red opinion to find the Vietnamese woman. Last Friday, she was arrested by the Thai Division of Crime Deletion (CSD) in a hotel, Ann reported. Coindesk could not contact the Thai Division for the Deletion of Crime.
It was a key figure in a network that involved 35 officials and more than 1,000 employees working in 44 call centers in Vietnam, the information site said. Many citizens of Vietnam invest in the crypto, making the nation vulnerable to cryptographic criminals who want to take advantage of demand in the region. Recently published data have shown that 21.2% of the 100 million people live in the country are investing in crypto.
