RAWALPINDI:
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said no terrorist or his enabler would be spared, adding that “no one can rationalize violence and terrorism under any pretext.”
He made the remarks during a visit to Quetta where he received “a comprehensive operational briefing on the current security environment and internal security operations”, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
Balochistan has seen a surge in terrorist activities. In the latest violence, several coordinated terrorist attacks took place across the province on Saturday. The number of terrorists killed in clearance operations across Balochistan rose to nearly 200, as security forces continued their ‘cleansing’ operations in Nushki district and other parts of the province.
According to ISPR, CDF Munir received a comprehensive operational briefing on the current security environment and ongoing internal security operations during a visit to Quetta.
“The CDF pointed out that no terrorist or his facilitator will be spared and everything will be dealt with strictly in accordance with law and no one can rationalize violence and terrorism under any pretext,” the ISPR said.
He added that the briefing covered the terrorist attacks orchestrated by “internationally designated terrorists from Fitna al Hindustan and supported by India and the rapid aggressive response of the security forces which failed in their ulterior motive of compromising peace, stability and development in Balochistan”.
The statement maintained that measures taken to further strengthen the state mandate and ensure the protection of the population and critical infrastructure were also discussed in detail.
CDF Munir further praised the “professionalism, courage and sacrifices” of officers and soldiers of all law enforcement agencies in “thwarting nefarious anti-Pakistan designs and maintaining law and order in the region,” he added.
Accompanied by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, the field marshal visited the Combined Military Hospital, where he met injured personnel of the Pakistan Army, Balochistan Frontier Corps and police, the ISPR said.
“CDF Munir praised their good morale as well as their courage and determination to protect the homeland against foreign-sponsored terrorists,” the statement added.
