- The founder of Lynx described Valve Deckard as “quite incredible”
- They did not share any specific details, but said they share the Valve suppliers
- Other leaks have teased an impressive but expensive 3 rival
While Google does stories on Android XR, Meta continues its supremacy Meta Quest 3, and Apple apparently discloses its Avantillable Visionable Vision Plans for Bono, Valve has worked quietly in the background on its next helmet – and it is already described as “quite surprising”.
It is according to Stan Larroque – the founder of Lynx who created the inventive helmet of Lynx R1 that I demo in 2023 – which said on social networks that “the design of Valve Next HMD is quite incredible!”
He did not explain what makes Deckard particularly neat, saying that he would be “pissed off” if someone has disclosed details on the next XR aircraft of Lynx, but he at least indicated why he knows the valve device.
In a follow -up article, he said: “The world of HMD manufacturing is so small, we all share the same suppliers for certain components.”
I would also be annoyed if Lynx Nextgen Id was disclosed, so I will no longer share. I’m just excited for the right new HMDS XR. The HMD world is so small, we all share the same suppliers for certain components.May 17, 2025

While leaks must be taken with a pinch of salt, if the valve shares the design details with suppliers and the supply of parts for deckard, this suggests that the device could approach (or already in) production, and that an official revelation could approach.
This is supported by allegations from April that Valve received parts and VR helmet machines to start producing a sort of helmet in the United States – likely to dodge some of the prices in progress imposed on imports. Again, a sign that Deckard is almost ready to fall.
When this is the case, other leaks gave us details that Larroques did not want to reveal.
For example, proof of concept deckard valve was an autonomous design (rather than attached) and would have offered 2K LCD panels for its display configuration, and was fueled by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – the same chipset as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (via Upload VR).
This chipset would be more recent than the Snapdragon XR 2 Gen 2 in other modern helmets such as the Meta Quest 3, although it is not a dedicated XR chipset, so it seems likely that a different processor is in the final design of Deckard (perhaps an XR2 Gen 3).
The helmet also seeks to rely on the controllers (named Roy), which closely resemble the handsets of Meta Quest 3 (via uploadvr).
Expect it to be expensive. A rumor package for the new VR valve deckard helmet will cost supposed to cost $ 1,200, which includes certain games as well as two controllers.
Hopefully Valve will not keep us in the dark about Deckard longer – he may be waiting for the Android XR media threw surrounding Google E / S before flying the spotlight – but we will have to wait and see.
