Associated with the TTP’s Intikhab Alam group, Hammad Zahir was a wanted killer and extortion target.
A key commander of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Taliban’s Intikhab Alam was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces during an intelligence operation in Nowshera district on Saturday, December 6, 2025, police said.
The terrorist, identified as Hammad Zahir, a resident of Kahi Nizampur, was an active member of the TTP group, wanted by the Mardan Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Nowshera police for the targeted killing of constable Maqsood, murder, attempt to murder, extortion and other crimes.

Police, in collaboration with the CTD Mardan Area Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), were conducting an intelligence-based search and strike operation in Ghaibana Baba area when suspects opened fire with automatic weapons, the statement said. The officers returned fire; the exchange continued for several minutes.
Zahir was killed instantly while his accomplices managed to escape. After the shooting stopped, a search operation was carried out and his body was found.
A Kalashnikov rifle, two magazines and several cartridges were recovered from the scene, police said.

The CTD said the operation was carried out under the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militant networks in the province.
