The legend of Hockey Wayne Gretzky was criticized by his Canadian colleagues for his apparent support to President Donald Trump.
Trump fired the country’s disdain in the North for having said that he should become the “51st state” and by initiating prices on Canadian goods.
Before the 4-nations confrontation championship between the United States and Canada in Boston, Gretzky was appointed honorary captain of Canada and he received a consoup.

It prompted the legend of hockey Bobby Orr, a Canadian compatriot, to write in the Toronto Sun That he was disappointed when he read criticism of someone he considers one of the “greatest Canadians of all time”.

Janet’s position has not ended the criticism.
A user commented: “You cannot be a big Canadian if you support Trump who trying to destroy Canada, it’s as simple as that.”
Another wrote: “Writing from a trumper for another. If Wayne is so proud, he should make a public statement denouncing your friend’s call to annex his homeland. Thank you, talk more hard than anything that another Trumper could write about him.”
Trump recently said that he had asked Gretzky to become the next “Governor of Canada” after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he would resign.
But after Gretzky expressed support for “Canada remaining a separate country, rather than becoming a 51st darling and magnificent state,” said Trump Gretzky a “free agent”.
“I do not want anyone in Canada to say something wrong about it. He supports Canada as it should, as it should, even if it is not as good as it could be part of the world’s largest and most powerful country, the good ole ‘USA!” Trump wrote in a social article on Truth on Wednesday.

Gretzky attended a victory party for Trump’s electoral victory in 2024 after Trump defeated vice-president Kamala Harris. Gretzky was seen wearing a Maga hat shortly after and attended the inauguration of Trump.
