Friday evening, Wayne Gretzky began to follow Alex Ovechkin in the middle of his trek to exceed the big as a scorer of all the NHL time – the trip was almost made in a day.

But Gretzky is more than in peace with his record and which descends soon.
“It’s ok … that’s what the game is,” Gretzky told the monumental sports network shortly after Ovechkin equaled it.
“Alex was great for the match, ideal for Washington, ideal for his country of origin. It is wonderful. I am very proud of him, I am proud of what I accomplished, and that is what makes our game so wonderful, it is the great athletes that we have, and more importantly, the good people they are.”

Gretzky became the scorer of all NHL time on March 23, 1994, when he exceeded Gordie Howe with his 802nd career goal. He scored 92 more before hanging up the crampons in 1999 to bring his total to 894.
Ovechkin turned on the lamp just four minutes from the match against the Chicago Blackhawks to what is as close as he could. Ovechkin’s next chance at the record will be on Sunday in New York against the Icelanders, with the washer that should fall at 12:30 p.m. he.
