One of the biggest technology events has arrived: the Apple event in September. Of course, the iPhone 17 series will be the star of the show, but it is the persistent anticipation of the new Apple watches that make this event even more exciting.
Regarding portable devices, Apple nailed it with the smartwatch, and it is at least envisaged to make an intelligent ring – we know it because of patent deposits and other leaks, which suggests that it has become far enough in the process. If Apple continued the new form factor, it would face strong competition with the best intelligent rings – namely the Samsung Galaxy ring.
In recent years, rumors concerning the state of Apple’s first intelligent ring floated, and with only a few hours before the Apple event, a surprise appearance of the Apple ring would be the fall of Micro Ultimate. But how stuffed is it to expect a brand new portable category today?
History so far
Apple has explored the idea of developing an intelligent ring for a few years now, having tabled patents for an intelligent ring from 2020. In September 2024, Apple published a fairly abundant survey of Apple Watch, asking existing Apple Watch users if they consider another laptop.
The media threshing was killed because no other update has followed, but a leak has resurrected our hope for the Apple ring, sharing that development was forward – as well as further with `attempts to develop portable devices in the form of bands and smart glasses ”.
Many of these types of R&D projects never see the light of day, we therefore disdainful these reports, until Mark Gurman de Bloomberg revealed that Apple’s plans to chop his intelligent ring project by concern.
Will today’s Apple event be our first look?
To put it frankly, we do not know, but it is very unlikely. In the current state of things, it seems that the development plans of the first intelligent ring of Apple are progressing beyond the experiment, but have now been paused.
We do not completely exclude Apple’s adventure in the smart rings given the success of the Flagship Galaxy ring of Samsung and the Oura Ring 4, but it is still early, and it is ambitious to expect it to make an appearance during the Apple event today. But we will know it with certainty once the cover takes off.
