- Microsoft CEO highlights AI’s potential for business
- Satya Nadella says AI should augment, not replace, human workers
- Microsoft releases new study revealing how many companies want to adopt AI
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has once again sought to highlight the potential of what AI technologies can bring to businesses of all sizes.
In a keynote speech at the Microsoft AI Tour London event, Nadella explained how the company seeks to empower all organizations with its enhanced systems and services, but also explained how the company views AI as a whole.
“We’ve had several very powerful ways of thinking about what computing means to us,” he noted, “(so) you can think of when you’re working with agents, it’s like we’re working with an infinite set of minds.”
AI “empowers” businesses
“There’s a lot of talk about what AI can do and what it means — for us, it’s fundamentally about the technology that must fulfill the mission of empowering us and the institutions and organizations that we build to be able to accomplish more,” Nadella said.
“When you think about applied technology, you want to be sure that your ability to deliver the product or service improves, that the experience you provide to your own employees is now much better than it was before, and that your internal operations become more efficient. »
Nadella presented the three parts of what Microsoft considers the AI stack: the experience, the platform for creating agents, and the token factory.
But he also emphasized that intelligence and trust are key functions above all, emphasizing that it should be a combination of systems and human capital – and how this gets complicated without organization.
“The goal is to really make sure that you are concretely able to point out how your organization has been able to build more intelligence within the enterprise,” Nadella said.
Importantly, he also highlighted the importance of augmenting human workers, not replacing them with AI – another key level of trust, noting: “For us, ensuring that there is absolute trust – so when you deploy AI, you’re building that next layer of intelligence and trust, that’s the most important thing we have to work towards.”
“For us, it’s about being able to translate this next generation platform, this powerful new technology, so that it ultimately has a real impact here,” Nadella concluded, “to be able to make a small business more productive, to make the public sector more efficient, to make startups in the ecosystem more globally competitive, large companies more globally competitive – those transformation stories are what it’s about.”
The news came as Microsoft’s UK arm revealed new research showing business leaders fear falling behind when it comes to making the most of AI.
The study of a thousand senior decision-makers in UK businesses found that 84% of organizations now have a competitive advantage thanks to AI – a significant increase from the 40% who believed this 12 months ago.
The report also notes how business confidence has increased, with 84% of executives now saying they have a clear AI strategy in place, up from 46% in 2025.
“There has been a fundamental shift in the UK, where AI is no longer experimental or tactical,” noted Darren Hardman, CEO of Microsoft UK, “and leaders are increasingly confident in their ability to transform AI into real business impact.”
