- Expect the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 on April 16
- The vlogging camera has been rumored for a long time
- Insta360 is also launching the Luna soon
The build-up to the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 launch has been long and busy, but we now have an official date for the vlogging camera’s unveiling – while more leaks emerge for a rival Insta360 device.
DJI has released a teaser on social media which tells us that the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 will launch on Thursday, April 16. The reveal begins at 12:00 GMT, which is 4:00 PT / 7:00 ET / 9:00 AEST in Australia, so mark your calendars accordingly.
The camera isn’t mentioned by name, but we get a pretty good look at it, with the tagline “the world in my pocket.” In Japanese, the slogan translates to “the world is expanding”, which may allude to expanded capabilities of the camera’s sensors.

As Notebookcheck points out, this hints at a wider native focal length on the new camera, as well as support for the Open Gate standard, like that offered by the iPhone 17 Pro – this means more of the sensor area can be used for filming.

The official announcement didn’t stop the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 leaks from popping up. Regular tipster Igor Bogdanov (via Notebookcheck) published more renders of the camera in advance, showing off its tweaked design, complete with two additional console buttons.
Other improvements announced include improvements to the 1-inch sensor that allow for more light and improved photo and video quality, as well as an additional camera, a potential possibility for a Pro version of the device.
However, DJI might immediately have competition for its new camera. Once again, we owe the leak to Igor Bogdanov, this time for the Insta360 Luna: it is described as a “more interesting” version of what DJI is about to unveil.
The Insta360 Luna is somewhat official, having already been announced – but we don’t know exactly when it will go on sale, or any specs we can expect. However, for consumers, more choice and more competition are certainly welcome.
