Did Conquest really die in episode 6 of season 4 of Invincible?
In short: yes, conquest is no longer a problem than Mark Grayson, aka the The protagonist of the Prime Video show will have to deal with it, because Mark killed Conquest in episode 5 of season 4.
“Haven’t we been here before?” ”, some of you may be wondering – and yes, you are right. Following InvincibleIn the season 3 finale, viewers who hadn’t read the comics assumed that Conquest was dead. Indeed, the combined efforts of Mark and Atom Eve not only defeated Conquest in the eighth and final episode of last season, but also appeared to eliminate him.
However, this episode’s post-credits scene revealed that Cecil Stedman, head of the Global Defense Agency, had recovered Conquest’s broken body. For what purpose? To question Conquest about the Viltrumites, learn more about their weaknesses, and use this information to better defend planet Earth.
If you’ve been following Amazon TV Original, you’ll know that Cecil’s plan falls apart. As soon as Conquest awakens from his coma in Season 4 Episode 1, he immediately breaks out of the confines of his prison miles underground, returns to Viltrum, and urges its authoritarian leader – Grand Regent Thragg – to kill him for failing to complete his mission.
Stating that he does not reward failure by taking someone’s head, Thragg refuses Conquest’s request. Instead, he tasks Conquest with continuing the task given to him – that is, dispatching Mark and all those who oppose the Viltrum Empire’s assimilation of Earth.

This brings us to last week’s entry and its follow-up. In last week’s entry, Mark and Conquest’s final confrontation ends similarly to Season 3 Episode 8. That being said, Mark wins by killing Conquest, but almost at the cost of his own life.
This time around, it looks like Conquest has also been eliminated for good. As Mark slowly recovers from his near-fatal injuries in this week’s chapter, we see his father Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man, bury Conquest on the isolated planet he, Mark, and Oliver Grayson are marooned on.
InvincibleThe final chapter of does not end without making its audience believe that Conquest could return for the second time.
In the middle of its credits, we return to Conquest’s grave. Ominous music begins to play as the camera zooms in on his final resting place, and as the tension-building music builds, many might expect to see Viltrum’s second strongest warrior somehow rise from the grave. Cue the use of a smash cut where the music suddenly stops and the camera lingers on Conquest’s grave as a small gust of wind humorously blows from the earth onto the screen.
How did Invincible fans react to the credits scene in episode 6 of season 4?

As I mentioned at the start of this article, many welcomed the decision to make them believe Conquest would return, only to have the rug pulled out from under them.
“Okay, that fake ending was hilarious. I burst out laughing at 4am,” Reddit user CabassoG wrote. “Broooo, they had me in the end credits lmfao. What a great troll, my heart really sank,” admitted Qedic, before whovian25 gave his opinion: “I loved that fake tease at the end.”
“The Conquest theme playing at the end scared us all lol,” said Aclysmic, while Zoltreks also wrote: “The fucking fake at the end, dammit.”
There were fans who didn’t really like being fooled, mind you.
On Reddit, sleepyotter92 said: “I was ready to punch my fucking screen if they revealed f****r was still alive.” ChampionV agreed, writing: “That ending wasn’t funny. I was f*****g stressful”. MaxGalli was also annoyed at first, but eventually saw the funny side of things, saying, “The fake ending was hilarious. It kept me from getting angry and laughing loudly for minutes when the reveal was made.”
Some longtime fans of the graphic novels believed that Conquest would also be brought back from the dead.
“Holy shit, the end credits scene made me think we were going to take a huge detour from the comics for a second,” Raimiversus admitted. “That Conquest simulation at the end kept me going even though I knew it wasn’t going to happen,” Sarcastic, another Redditor, also said. Meanwhile, over at
If Conquest had survived, it wouldn’t have been the first time InvincibleThe television adaptation of had altered an aspect of its literary namesake. However, it would arguably be the most significant – and potentially most controversial – change to date, as it would have fundamentally changed the overall story. Thank goodness, then, that won’t be the case.
