- Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro: on the surface, a mouse
- Under the hood, it hides two wireless headphones
- The mouse itself provides “long-lasting coolness” for comfortable all-day use
Once upon a time, there was a cute little house mouse who saw a piece of cheese left out and nibbled on it. Unfortunately, the owner had left an AirPod on the piece of cheeseand so the rodent ate that too. For the rest of his life, every time he passed by, the owner of the house would hear snippets of Float on it the modest type.
The moral of the story is “don’t give a mouse headphones,” but apparently Honor hadn’t heard this unwritten – and, as far as we know, unspoken – rule (*note: don’t give any technology to an animal, or to yourself), because its unassuming new productivity kit hides an unusual audio extra.
I’m talking about the Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro, released in China at the end of 2025 (sorry) and now available in other parts of the world. They cost £79.99 in the UK, which equates to around $100 (although Honor doesn’t currently sell its kit in the US) or AU$160 (but not listed on Honor’s Australian website).

On the surface, it looks like a simple wireless mouse. Bland, even, despite having a “skin-like coating”, silent buttons and “long-lasting coolness” in the body, but still… pretty much just a mouse.
However, if you open the body of said mouse, you will be surprised to find two wireless headphones nestled inside.
Perfectly clean headphones
The Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro earbuds are open-style, with no removable eartip to hold them in place, and the company’s listing doesn’t offer much information about them: no driver, frequency response, impedance. They apparently have ANC and dynamic drivers, but that’s all the website says.
The target audience for this type of kit is likely office workers, who will need to make a private call at any time, and users will find headphones easily accessible and already paired, therefore very convenient. Think about the additional work you can do in the seconds you save: think about productivity, efficiency, time optimization!
I imagine this will also be a popular product for people working in a coffee shop or cafe, who want to hear a voice note or join a meeting without digging through their bag looking for your headphones (although please don’t attend work meetings in public cafes: that’s SO boring to the rest of us around you).
Apparently the set (mouse and headphones) lasts for 30 days of use, although it’s unclear how many hours of listening time that takes into account.
This isn’t the first hidden earphone technology we’ve ever seen. I’m thinking of the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio, a feature phone that comes with pre-paired headphones that you can easily use to listen to a song. From what I’ve heard, these headphones didn’t sound particularly good, but then again, a few It’s better to have headphones than no headphones, when you need them.
Unfortunately, I’m not an expert on the best mouse, so I can’t tell you if this is a great little gem with a hidden secret or a weird new thing. But I’m reviewing the headphones.
I hate to be pessimistic, after all, Honor makes fantastic headphones – just look at the Honor Earbuds Open for a start – but I fear these headphones won’t sound particularly good. The mouse isn’t a glorified charging case for some high-end headphones; the mouse is the focal point (with the headphones a secondary extra). So get them if you need a 2-in-1 hybrid mouse with headphones, but don’t buy them if you just want the best headphones in an alternative case.
