The NFL’s Thanksgiving slate includes six teams that could really benefit from a win in Week 13.

The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers will be the appetizer for fans before heading into Thanksgiving dinner. The Dallas Cowboys will try to defend their home field against the Kansas City Chiefs. And the Cincinnati Bengals game against the Baltimore Ravens will be the dessert of the evening.

Two-time NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Trent Green spoke to PK Press Club Digital about the upcoming series of games. He said the two teams that need a win the most are two of the teams facing each other – the Cowboys and the Chiefs.

The Chiefs and Cowboys could be the biggest Thanksgiving game ever in terms of attendance. (The) number of people looking at that afternoon window is still the biggest window. You got the Cowboys coin toss,” Green said. “You got (Patrick) Mahomes and the Chiefs coin toss. They are both coming off huge fourth quarter wins. The Cowboys, obviously, were down 21 points and came back and found a way to win. The Chiefs had to score 11 points in the fourth quarter and then go into overtime to get this win and get to 6-5. They are always part of the mix. The Cowboys are still in the mix.

“To answer your question, which team needs it the most? I would probably say if you look at it purely from a numbers standpoint, it would have to be the Cowboys or Kansas City. I think the biggest thing is banking on this game for both of those teams to try to claw their way into the playoffs because the AFC North, with Baltimore and Pittsburgh tied 6-5 at the top of the division, I think you have some wiggle room in that division. only one team coming out of it and that’s whoever wins the division, I don’t see a second team or wild card team coming from the AFC North.”

Kansas City finds itself in a position it has rarely been accustomed to over the past eight years – sitting on the outside looking in and watching the playoff race. The Chiefs are coming off a big win against the Indianapolis Colts, but they’ll need more than that to replicate the success they’ve had since the 2018 season.

Dallas made headlines early in the season and the defensive shakeup has seemingly paid off. The Cowboys’ defense is essentially the same as last year in points allowed (31st) and yards allowed (29th), but momentum is building after the team took out the Philadelphia Eagles in the second half last week.

Green expected a “big battle” between the Lions and Packers, with both teams aiming for a playoff spot. He added that Joe Burrow’s return to the Bengals offense would certainly bring “excitement to the fans.”
