- Netflix defended the first major refreshment of the user interface of the streaming service in 12 years
- Fans have evacuated their fury on the unnecessary changes in the disposition of the home page
- Netflix claims that people quietly prefer the update version
Netflix defended the first overhaul of the user interface (IU) of the platform in 12 years – and even said that the majority of people preferred at the disposal of the old destination page.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Netflix suggested that fans actually prefer the new streaming look compared to the old. As ThR’s article reveals, Netflix affirms that its internal data, as well as the one -year beta test which it carried out before the new layout, justifies the decision of the entertainment giant to revise the user interface of its service.
Netflix’s assertion occurs a month after revealing the greatest upgrade of its home page in more than a decade. At the time, Streaming Titan confirmed that the global deployment of update would start seriously, but said that some users would see the overhaul than others.
Less than 24 hours after the great unveiling of the user interface, which took place on May 7, Netflix fans began to report that their home page had been updated – and a number of them were not satisfied. Indeed, frustrated fans have flocked on social networks to say that “New Design Sucks” by Netflix, because it has made it more difficult to search for the type of content they like to disseminate.

In the weeks following the revision of the best streaming service, more customers were transferred to the redesigned home page. And, surprised surprise, more people posted online to express their fury in what they deem to be unnecessary changes. From the Netflix’s own sub-rate to other social media platforms such as X / Twitter, consumers landed when renovating Netflix layout.
Now, however, Netflix has suggested that dissidents are just a very vocal minority. Indeed, while a company spokesperson admitted that the giant in streaming knew that it would face a form of reaction on the modifications, the User Interface updated is a better experience. “With larger boxes, we show more information in advance to help you make a better decision,” they added. “Instead of seeing 20 or 30 titles at a time, you now see information at a glance.”
Opinion: Netflix users simply cry out in a vacuum – again

This is not the first time that Netflix fans have criticized the decisions taken by the video company on demand (VOD). Whether it is the now annual Netflix price increases, angry users threatening to close their accounts on the removal of certain subscription levels, the regular cancellation of favorite emissions of fans like RecruitOr Netflix’s incredibly divisor to repress account sharing between households, consumers have more and more exasperated with the most popular streamer.
But this is where the problem lies. Despite the Ire Netflix prints when he makes unpopular decisions, it is always the largest and most used VOD platform on the market. At the end of 2024, Netflix reported that it had 301.6 million subscribers. Its closest rivals, considered as a video and Disney +prime, can only have 200 million users and 150.2 million customers, respectively. Despite the frustration of fans concerning updates as well as its updating of the layout, Netflix continues to dominate the landscape in streaming.
Netflix no longer discloses publicly how many users it has, so we will not know if consumers vote with their money and cancel their Netflix subscription following modifications made to the service.
With so many new Netflix films, as well as new seasons from some of the best Netflix programs, which are preparing to make its debut on the platform before the end of 2025, I do not see millions of active users hit Netflix where it hurts-that is to say its beneficiary margins. The only way to get your executives sit and take note is to close our accounts to protest against updates like this revision of the user interface. Until people vote with their wallets, Netflix will continue to do what he wants, whether fans want him or not.
