Thousands of companies could cope with disturbances of meeting rooms as soon as the next deadline for the end of the life of Windows 10 is expected to affect Microsoft Team Rooms devices.
From October 14, surface hub V1 devices, such as other Windows 10 systems, will no longer receive Microsoft’s updates or support, because the company takes charge of Windows 10 Team Edition.
Unlike Standard Editions of Windows 10, the Windows 10 team does not have a prolonged support option, and although the surface 2S concentration units can be upgraded to Windows 11 or equipped with a surface hub 3 surface calculation cartridge, the original center does not have this luxury.

“Hub V1 surface devices will no longer be supported. It is recommended to go to a more recent surface concentrator,” said Microsoft in an update.
This advice places many meeting spaces in an clumsy position and will see certain devices transform into expensive but not supported equipment, because the impact extends beyond surface equipment.
The Microsoft Teams Rooms application will no longer work on Windows 10 devices after October 14, any more than the Pro Teams team management portal.
As Microsoft says: “The Microsoft Teams Rooms application based on conventional teams will no longer be accessible.”
Andrew Francis, principal director of engineering applications at Shure, said The register That many companies can underestimate the problem.
“Although the initial emphasis is often on personal devices such as laptops and desktops, there are many other endpoints that must be taken into account. A key example is the Microsoft Teams rooms on a Windows 10 device,” he said.
Francis noted that there are about a million team rooms active in the world, on Windows and Android, but many Windows units cannot go to Windows 11 due to the material restrictions.
An additional layer of complexity exists for companies whose meeting technology extends over several departments or outsourced suppliers.
The imminent deadline means that organizations must now choose between upgrades, migration or replacements.
For Hub 2S surface users, Microsoft says that users have three options: installing a surface hub 3 surface calculation cartridge, performing software migration before October 14 or unlocking devices for a manual USB installation from Windows 11.
Unfortunately only the only option hub V1 customers, buying a new model. Not doing it could see some meeting rooms with expensive equipment that no longer suits use.
