Triple MLB All-Star Whit Merrifield announced its retirement on Tuesday in an article on social networks.
Merrifield, 36, wrote in his article of retirement announcement how many privileges it was to play for each of the cities with which he spent time during his career. When he approached his time with the Philadelphia Phillies, he apologized for his bad game with the team.
“Philly, I loved you much more than you loved me. Sorry I pyth,” wrote Merrifield in the post.

Merrifield played 53 games with the Phillies in 2024 and struck a meager .199 with three circuits and 11 points produced. Merrifield figures with the Phillies were a departure from his normal regular game throughout his career.
During his nine -year career, Merrifield had an average of the stick of 0.280 and hit 94 circuits.
Merrifield spent parts of seven seasons with the Royals of Kansas City, who then exchanged it to the Blue Jays de Toronto on the 2022 commercial deadline. The second base player played with the Blue Jays for two seasons before joining the Phillies before the 2024 season.

After being appointed for assignment by the Phillies, Merrifield signed with his childhood team, the Braves of Atlanta, for the rest of the 2024 season.
Merrifield said that his retirement was an “easy decision” and that the main factor in his retirement was the baby that he and his wife had in March 2024. He said that in this stage of his life, he “prefers by far hunting him around a toddler than Sliders”.

The former Royals star said that his only baseball regret was not won a world series for any of the teams for which he had played.
Merrifield led the major leagues twice in his career (2018, 2019). Merrifield also led the league in interception with 45 in 2018 and led the American league in interceptions in 2017 and 2021 with 34 and 40 interceptions respectively during each of these years.
