Amanda Anisimova shocked the world of tennis when she upset the world n ° 1 Aryna Sabalenka in three exhausting sets to qualify for the Wimbledon final on Thursday.
The 23 -year -old will try to become the first American to win Wimbledon since Serena Williams won in 2016. Anisimova will face Iga SwiTek in the Wimbledon final on Saturday.

Youth and education
Amanda Anisimova is the daughter of Konstantin and Olga Anisimova. The couple emigrated from Russia to the United States in 1998. She was born in New Jersey, but her family moved to Miami, Florida, at the age of 3.
Anisimova’s father presented him to tennis at the age of 5 and became his coach. His tennis idols who grew up were Williams and Maria Sharapova.
In 2019, while he was preparing for the US Open, his father died at 52 due to a heart attack. Anisimova withdrew from the tournament as she took care of the sudden loss.
“It was the worst thing that never happened to me, it was very difficult,” said Anisimova, by the sun. “But you can’t change it, and you have to come back to life.”

The teenage prodigy
Anisimova burst into the stage when she reached the 2016 Roland Garros girl’s girls at only 14. The same year, she reached an ITF classification in the n ° 2 career in the world. The following year, she beat Coco Gauff for the 2017 US Open Junior title, where she did not drop only one set during the tournament.
Anisimova won five titles in his junior career.
The native of New Jersey made his debut during the WTA tour at the 2017 Miami Open at 15 when she obtained a Joker in the main draw. She made her debut at the Grand Chelem at the Open of France a few months later, becoming the youngest player to participate in the draw of the French Open since 2005, when Alize Cornet did.

WTA career
Her first match victory on the WTA tour occurred in Indian Wells in 2018, where she reached the fourth round before losing against Karolina Pliskova. The first title of WTA of Anisimova occurred at the Claro Open Colsanitas in Bogota in 2019.
“I am really happy and proud of myself for the way I crossed them, and winning my first WTA title means so much,” said Anisimova after the match, according to the WTA website.
Anisimova continued her solid game in the 2019 France Open when she arrived in the semi-finals. She beat Harmony Tan, Sabalenka and Simona Halep before losing against Ashleigh Barty in three sets.
Anisimova won his second WTA career title at Melbourne Summer Set 2 at the start of 2022, after mixed results during the Covid 2020 and 2021 season.

In May 2023, Anisimova, 21, announced that she was moving away from the tennis game, citing concerns about her mental health. She wrote in an Instagram publication that she had trouble with “mental health and professional exhaustion since the summer of 2022.”
“It has become unbearable to be in tennis tournaments. At this point, my priority is my mental well-being and take a break for a while,” she wrote in her article.
As she moved away, she was classified n ° 46 in the world.
Anisimova returned to the classic ASB in January 2024, when she took eight months from the match. On her return, Anisimova played some of her best tennis when she won her first WTA 1000 title at the Qatar Open 2025.
After progressing to the Wimbledon final, she said after the match she “would not believe” that she had succeeded.

“To be honest, if you had told me that I would be in the final in Wimbledon, I would not believe you. At least not that soon,” said Anisimova after his upset victory over Sabalenka.
“It has been a year since his return and, to be in this place, it’s not easy and so many people dream of competing on this incredible court. It was a privilege to compete here, and being in the final is simply indescribable.”
Anisimova will have the chance to compete once again at the All England Club on Center runs Saturday in the Wimbledon final, where she will play Swiatek.
