The role of Kate Middleton in Prince George’s life will be different from that of her husband Prince William.
As George was 12 years old on July 22, a new phase of his preparation for his future role as king of the United Kingdom began.
Royal historian Marlene Koenig explained the role of Kate in George’s life, telling US Weekly, “It will never have a constitutional role, except as a regent in the worst case, if George becomes king before 18 years.”
“She is there to be the loving and united mother in everything George does because he is his son first and above all,” said Koenig.
Although Kate has learned the royal customs well, it will be William who will put the iron from George’s preparation to be the future king.
“She and William went out together for almost 10 years before the announcement of their engagement, which allowed her time and the space to find out about her future life as a member of the royal family,” said Koenig.
“Over time, as the wife of the heir to the throne and finally as a queen consort. She is also the mother of a future king,” she noted.
She added that it will be William who will take care of George’s preparation with “the knowledge and practice of their roles”.
Last month, reports revealed that George will no longer travel on the same plane as his father for any trip.
Last month, former Charles pilot, Graham Laurie, confirmed on a right royal podcast that the same security protocol was also followed after William was 12 years old.
A new royal protocol started last month after George was 12 years old, referring to the start of the next phase of his preparation for the throne.
Koenig also noted that George was part of King Charles’ coronation and was one of his grandfather’s train carriers.
“George is the first member of the royal family to have such a role in service,” noted Koenig. “If the young prince was nervous, he did not show it.”
