With retro appearance and touch controls, Fujifilm’s first 10th cameras acquired an enthusiastic follow -up. But when the X-E4 was launched in 2021, it shared opinion. Praised for its compact style, fans of the series estimated that Fujifilm had deleted too many features. Now new rumors suggest that his successor is expected to land next month. According to rumors of Fuji – a reliable source of industry – Fujifilm X -E5 should make its debut in June. Although Fujifilm has not officially confirmed the existence of the model, the news of a summer launch is not a huge surprise. Talking about the imminent arrival of the new model has been circulating since the end of last year.
The big question is what Fujifilm approach will adopt with the X-E5. In December, we presented it as one of the most exciting cameras of 2025. Since then, we have not learned anything substantive from its specifications. There were no major online leaks, which is unusual for a camera deeply in development.

What the X-E5 needs to do well
On paper, the X-E4 had the emissions of a winner: he inherited the X-TRANS 26MP sensor and the X-4-Mount Cameras X-MOUNT from Fujifilm. He also kept the compact proportions and the attractive telemeter style of previous versions. But physical execution has proven to be a divider. In the pursuit of minimalism, Fujifilm has removed a large part of the physical controls found on the X-E3.
No more rear control dial, AF lever and flash, plus a few buttons. Fujifilm also abandoned the handle. In the absence of image stabilization in the body or sealing of bad weather, many estimated that the X-E4 style prioritized the style in relation to the substance. The criticisms underlined the lack of Dual SD card slots as proof that the X-E4 was not a tool for serious photographers. All this was more difficult to justify with a launch price only of $ 850 / £ 799 / $ 1,399 in.
When the X-T30 II was launched in November 2021, it looked like much better. In an indictment of the gaps in the X-E4, Fujifilm stopped the production of X-E4 after only a few years. Ironically, the rarity that results from the model has in fact increased its price.
In this context, the X-E5 has two jobs to do: winning the favor of fujifilm enthusiasts and restoring the position of the XE series in the programming without a mirror.
The first does not have to be difficult. By looking at the comments online, the success formula must include the reintroduction of certain physical commands, including the rear dial and an integrated handle. Other elements of current wishes are a high resolution EVF, a larger battery and an APS-C 40 MP sensor. Image stabilization in the body would really soften the agreement.
This specification sheet would indicate a clear change to the roots of the lovers of the XX series. If Fujiiflm can inject the X-E5 with enough substance while keeping its an analog charisma intact, it could be one of the beds of the year.
