- Windows 11 feeds the snipping tool during tests now
- A new feature allows you to copy all the text from an image immediately
- It is not necessary to take a screenshot first, as it was before, so it is a treated time saving
Microsoft facilitates Windows 11 users even more to extract image text (or all content) on the screen.
Windows 11 already has this OCR capacity supplied by OCR (Optical Character recognition), as you may know, but for the moment, it is necessary to take a screenshot first with the snipping tool before being able to extract text from this image.
With a new update for the snipping tool which has just been published (which was disclosed previously), you do not need to enter a screenshot to carry out a text extraction – although keep in mind that this is always in testing at this stage (it can therefore be always wobbly).
As Neowin reports, with Overview version 11.2503.27.0 of the snipping tool, you can simply hit the Windows + Shift + S The keys together, and this will appear in the tool capture bar.
However, instead of having to create a SNIP (screenshot), the “text extractor” option will be there in the bar, so you can simply click on this, without having to save a screen entry first.
Analysis: Power (toys) to people
Essentially, this directly incorporates the possibility of extracting image text (or any screen content) in Windows 11, without any necessary additional step, reflecting the present functionality in the Powertoys tool suite of Microsoft (for advanced Windows users) – and it will certainly be appreciated by people who use this capacity.
This is obviously less a problem than having to clean the obstacle to grasp a screenshot, if all you want to do is copy all the text currently visible to your monitor.
I say all The text, but this is only what is happening if you use the “copy all the text” option. If you just want a specific part of the text, you can manually select and extract these words (it is also possible to delete line breaks if you wish).
Microsoft slowly widens the OCR powers of Windows 11, and you may remember that at the end of last year, the Photos Application obtained the optical recognition of the integrated characters to remove the text from the images directly in the application.
