The portable mode of Windows 11 could happen earlier than we thought, based on indexes determined in a recent preview version of the operating system.
A portable mode would be designed for the use of Windows 11 on a portable game system – such as the Asus Rog Xbox Ally Inbound – transform the interface into something more practical for a compact display (and gamepad game commands rather than mouse).
A regular leak on X, Phantomoforeth, has just identified what seems to be the initial configuration experience for Windows 11 on a laptop, as you can see in the post below.
This was found in Windows 11, which arrived in the preview chain last week last week (the last step before the finished version of the operating system).
Windows spotted the post above, and also made some nuts in other overview versions (in the development chain, a point of sale of previous tests), discovering references to an interface optimized by Gamepad. (As well as a “Cloud host environment” for a “device based on Gamepad”, which triggers the said interface to use, to respond to controls and buttons based on PAD).
Another resident of X in this thread also observes that there are references in the code for Windows 11 to the pocket computers ”, which all indicates that there is a lot of work in lead in the guts of the office operating system to facilitate new experience of labor.
Analysis: Walking on gas
There has been a lot of dissatisfaction with pocket computers that use Windows 11, because the design of the operating system is often not suitable for a small screen, as mentioned. The elements that are good and work well on a large desktop monitor can be simple on a portable display, and overall, Windows 11 can be painful compared to the experience provided by Steamos (which has an interface designed for portable games).
A portable mode dedicated to Windows 11 which smooths on many of the problems that are inherent in the operating system of this form factor have long been subjected to what is closer and closer.
It is not surprising that Microsoft apparently puts its foot on the gas pedal, the spirit, since the Asus Xbox Ally should arrive later this year (although not that no release date has yet been broadcast).
I am delighted to see how this new interface takes place to say the least – and Microsoft has already worked to make Windows 11 more functional on a laptop with modifications of the Xbox application and the game bar.
Although the code discovered above is in the preview channel of the version, which, as indicated, is a step before the exit, do not forget that it is always hidden in the background, so do not expect an imminent arrival.
We should start to see more pieces from the puzzle set up (in the tests) early enough, long before the arrival of the Asus Xbox Ally (hopefully with a price too high, although rumors are not favorable on this score).
