A woman attempting to steal gold from a jewelry store in Rawalpindi’s Banni area was caught on CCTV.
The woman, posing as a customer, stole a gold necklace worth over Rs 550,000 by subtly hiding it on her lap while pretending to arrange other items in the jewelry box, Express News reported.
CCTV footage revealed his quick actions, leading the trader to file a complaint. Police used technology and human intelligence to track down the suspect, identified as Sadaf. She was arrested and the stolen necklace was found.
The footage showed Sadaf distracting the jeweler by rearranging the items, giving him time to pocket the necklace without being noticed. His deceptive maneuver was, however, entirely filmed by the store’s surveillance cameras.
Authorities confirmed the arrest and recovery.
