Voters have spoken.
The USC women’s basketball star Juju Watkins was selected as the winner in 2025 of the John R. Wooden Award on Saturday, beating the star of Uconn Paige Bueckers.
The other finalists were Lauren Betts of the UCLA, Hannah Hidalgo of Notre Dame and Madison Booker from Texas.

Watkins won the prize in the second year, only becoming the third subclass to do so since the prize was created in the 2003-04 season.

Watkins was one of the most dominant players in the NCAA tournament before tearing it in the second round. It is fourth in the country by scoring with 23.9 points per match, with 6.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.2 interceptions and 1.8 blocks in 33.8 minutes per match.
Watkins was also up to the pace to potentially beat the Caitlin Clark NCAA marking record before the LCA tear.
Bueckers, a senior, still plays in the NCAA tournament and will have the chance to win the championship after dominating the UCLA 85-51 in the Final Four on Friday.

She will try to lead her team to the victory on the title team of Dawn Staley as the title of South Carolina.
Bueckers collected an average of 20 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists this season.
