The Standing Committee on Communications of the National Assembly has been informed that the Quetta-Zhob route, including the bypass of Zhob, was included in this year’s PSDP. However, due to limited funds, the bypass of Loralai will be considered for inclusion in the next PSDP, in response to the previous recommendations of the Committee. The committee, which met under the chairmanship of Mna Aijaz Hussain, took the attention raised by MNA Syed Waseem Hussain and other members. The Committee reiterated public concerns concerning the high tolls billed at several times in the Karachi-Hyderabad motorway (M-9), highlighting the need for a fair toll and a transparent income collection. Since the parliamentary secretary for communications was not available to attend, the ministry was invited to submit his response at the next meeting. In addition, the committee requested a detailed report from the National Highway Authority (NHA) for the next session. The committee was informed of the advancement of the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway (M-6). The ministry informed the committee that the project would be funded through the Islamic Development Bank (ISDB), following the approval of the project proposal by the P3A board of directors and the PC-1 revised by Ecnec.
Work on M-6 to start in March 2026
