The global market of tablets experienced an essential increase in 2024, increasing by 9.2% after a difficult year of decline in 2023, new canary figures said.
The company noted that although the shipment of tablets in the first quarter only increases 1% in annual sliding, the market then saw significant quarterly increases of 18%, 11% and 5.6% in quarters following.
It also marks the interest of consumers enriched in affordable tablets, the PC market increasing by 3.8% throughout 2024.
Tablet sales are booming … finally
Although we are still not at the pre- and intra-countryic levels of 2020, total volume expeditions have dropped in the world of tablets each year, but 2024 marked the first year of positive. In fact, with the exception of 2020, 2024 was the only other year of growth in the tablets since at least 2016.
At the time, the director of the research of Canalys, Himani Mukka, commented: “The tablet industry experienced a positive start until 2024, and the rest of the year should bring additional relief after a difficult 2023. “
This year, Mukka added: “While the PC market swivel to a commercial refresh cycle, there is also a resumption of tablet demand.”
More than half (52%) of the partners of the chain selling commercial shelves expect shipments to continue to increase in 2025, but CANALYS predicts a more “constrained performance”.
Canalys followed more than 16,800 Apple tablet expeditions to the fourth quarter, highlighting the prevalence of the iPad on the market. Its market share of 42.3%, compared to 39.2% in 2023, represents more from 17.8% of double Samsung in second place.
2024 was an extremely busy year for Apple, with a launch of iPad Mini refreshments in October and the iPad Air M2 and the iPad Pro M4 launched side by side in May. The iPados have also brought new features from Apple Intelligence to beloved devices in recent months.
Although it can be supported by Apple, Canalies also noted the effect of Chinese manufacturers on the tablet market. Huawei and Xiaomi took 13% of the combined market in 2024.
