It has been more than two years since the two tours announced that they were in negotiations – but nothing final has never materialized.

ROLAPP, who was speculated in resuming the role of Roger GOODELL, admitted that he had “a lot to learn”, but the double major champion Xander Schauffele told PK Press Club Digital shortly after the news announced that he is enthusiastic about what will happen.

“I think the research committee has done a really in -depth research to find the best candidate. Someone working on the NFL’s commercial side for 22 years, he seemed really excited for this opportunity,” Schauffele told PK Press Club Digital. “He sees a lot of potential in the place where the tour can go, he wants to keep tradition and heritage, but also not really stuck in this way, too, if that makes sense. The NFL constantly pushes his product, and I think someone with this kind of mentality arrives is always a good thing.”

The feelings of Schauffele on Rolapp and the tradition did not come by accident. Rolapp declared in an open letter published on social networks that his “objective as CEO was to honor the traditions of golf but not to be too linked by them”.

“I am honored to participate in the role of the CEO of the PGA Tour. Golf has one of the deepest stories and several of the most timeless traditions of all sports,” said Rolapp. “This story and these traditions have inspired generations of players and fans, creating both a game and a tour that millions in the world love. At the same time, professional golf course evolves, as is the ways whose fans consume sport.

“In recent years, the tour has made significant progress in the fight against these changes – from the creation of more opportunities for players to improve the competitive structure and to improve the experience of fans. But there is still an important job to do, and incredible opportunities remain in advance. To create the highest quality golf product that includes the best players in the world, – As I said the players, the members of the board of directors and the fans in recent months, I felt commercial partnerships. “

It will be a big change for Rolapp, going from two decades with a league of 32 team owners to an organization with nearly 200 players who operate independently.

“Players have the tour – it’s their tour,” said Rolapp. “That said – and we talked about it a little about this at our meeting of players – I think they know that what is good for fans is also good for the tour. Working in the sport sector as long as I do, sometimes it is not so complicated. If you think what is best for the fan, it is generally better for everyone involved. So I think we are going to keep this state of mind here.”
