- Hyundai’s new ioniq 3 will have come with Apple Carplay Ultra
- It would be the next car after Aston Martin DBX to have access to the software
- This could mean more affordable access to the telephone interface to Apple infotainment
You may not need a car of $ 200,000 of people like Aston Martin to access Carplay Ultra from Apple in the near future, while Hyundai seems ready to bring the interface to its electric cars.
It is according to Top Gear, which reported that the Ioniq 3, which should be revealed at the Munich automobile show this month, will support Carplay Ultra, allowing deeper integration between the infotainment system of a car and a connected iPhone than the standard erosion of carplay offers.
To be positioned between Intesting of Hyundai and Kona EV, the Ioniq 3 is about to be a compact electric car supplied with connected technology. Top Gear notes that, like the other car manufacturers, all of this is part of Hyundai’s thrust to equip its software cars designed to be upgraded throughout their life and can be personalized by car brands and end users with applications, even those that buy used cars.
In many ways, this approach to infotainment software is similar to the way smartphones, tablets and computers work, upgrades being deployed on their lives and allowing users a degree of choice and personalization with the services and applications they want.
Ultra infodivement
In the past, infotainment systems would often be exceeded when a car is exceeding the production line and would be difficult to upgrade unless the brand offered firmware updates via dealerships. Or car owners have opted for third -party spare units.
Carplay Ultra is notable in this case because it was designed to integrate more closely into the underlying infotainment platform, allowing car brands to create personalized themes in collaboration with Apple which are suitable for each vehicle rather than offering a single interface.
Currently, Carplay Ultra is in the new Aston Martin DBX, a luxury performance SUV with a high price. But more car brands, especially those with cheaper vehicles, are ready to adopt Carplay Ultra. And it seems that Hyundai could be one of the forefronts.
As for the Ioniq 3 itself, Top Gear reports that it will be a front-wheel drive car with a 260 miles WLTP range and 365 miles of a battery choice planned at 58.3 kWh or 81.4kwhwhwh. A 400 -volt load system is expected. And the car could sprint 0-62 MPH in less than eight seconds.
There is no word on prices, but the Kona starts at $ 24,550, so I expected that the ioniq 3 is more expensive but exceeds well below $ 40,000, since the ioniq 5 begins at $ 42,600; Market prices vary a lot, so to keep things simple, I focused on American prices here. The production of Ioniq 3 is plunged for the start of next year.
Time will tell us if other car manufacturers adopt Carplay Ultra this year, but do not expect great announcements on the side of Apple because it is surely focusing on the launch of the iPhone 17, which we plan to see on September 9 at the next Apple event.
