- AI features on the Kindle 2024 scribe were only available for American customers
- The latest firmwares with AI features are now deployed to Users of the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia
- These features are now also available on the Kindle 2022 scribe
When the Amazon Kindle (2024) scribe was published in December from last year, I was rather upset that the promised features of AI were not part of the package for users outside the United States . At the time, Amazon had no comments to make on the moment when the AI summary and the manual writing recognition features would be deployed more widely, but this has happened now.
The latest firmware update (version 5.17.3) is now available for download on Kindle 2024 and 2022 scribe models in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, which means that even the Old model is now a much better scheme for notes than before.
I checked the 2022 and 2024 models that I have, but, at the time of publication, neither had the last firmware available for download. However, Amazon has already listed it on its help and customer service page in Australia where I am based, so this is only a matter of time before being pushed back to the devices themselves. You can, of course, download the software package from the Amazon site in your region if you don’t want to wait, but you will need to use the Send to Kindle service or send it by e-mail to your Kindle to update your device .
Once installed, you should be able to see a star -shaped icon in your notebooks. Tapping this will give you two options: “summarize” a note or “refine the writing”.
Read the rest, there is more
This firmware update also includes a new feature called the side of the side panel. As its name suggests, this adds a side panel where you can write notes when you read an ebook. This feature is also part of the latest firmware which exceeds more users outside the United States and is available for both scribe models.
The side panel function is added to the active canvas, which only adds a box for your handwritten note while reforming the page. The side panel is literally that: a complete panel for your thoughts, with the ability to modify the width as much as you wish.
A better note tablet
This new update means that the scribe scribe is now a better electronic paper tablet than that, in particular the original model 2022. The promised deployment of the characteristics of the AI leads to the old scribe equally with his successor and, being Given that it is now cheaper to buy, it represents better value. But I am always partial at the Kobo’s advanced notebooks, but I am delighted to see Amazon to make an effort to make the scribes more competitive.
The only bone I have to choose with Amazon now – only because I am Australian – is that none of the new Kindles now has an audible support. And then, Amazon?
