- Microsoft Edge has introduced new password management functionality

The new secure password deployment feature of Microsoft Edge focused on companies has reached general availability.
This added browser function protects identification information by preventing passwords from sharing with bad people – accidentally or otherwise.
The deployment of secure password is now available for Microsoft Edge for professional users of M365 Business Premium, E3 and E5 subscription options.
Prevent identification leaks
The secure password deployment tool allows users to automatically do passwords on websites allowed to create a smooth connection experience, but prevents users from visualizing, editing, deleting – and above all, prevents the user from exporting their passwords.
“In many organizations today, employees often use passwords via notes or sticky emails.
“The deployment of secure password allows administrators to deploy encrypted shared passwords to a set of users within their organization. With this feature, users will receive passwords deployed on their device and will be able to connect transparent to websites.”
The passwords stored in the secure password deployment tool are encrypted using the Microsoft Information Protection SDK and linked to the ENTER identity of a user, allowing companies to apply access control policies.
Administrators can use the tool to apply a highly granular configuration on browser settings for individual users or user groups. Administrators can start using the tools using the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to access the Edge Management service, then configuring an existing strategy or by creating a new strategy, then heading to the secure password deployment page via the customization settings tab.
“This integration brings the power of the Microsoft data protection platform directly into the EDGE management experience, giving administrators a transparent means of deploying identification information in complete safety while aligning with zero trust principles and compliance requirements,” continued Microsoft.
“By incorporating the protection SDK directly on the edge for companies, we extend Microsoft’s data protection capacities to the termination point – by making us sensitive information configuration configuration.”
