- The Philips Hue Sync application is now available for LG TVS
- The application allows you to synchronize smart lights with your TV without HDMI synchronization box
- It works with HDMI devices plus native applications like Netflix and Disney +
The Philips Hue Sync application is now available for LG TVS, allowing you to synchronize your smart lights with movies, games and television shows on your screen, without the need for a HDMI Play HDMI HDMI synchronization box. Your Hue lights will instantly react to everything on the screen, whether from an external source like a game console or a native Smart TV application like Netflix and Disney +.
Significant, the company behind Philips Hue, announced that the application would arrive on LG televisions in CES 2025 in January, but did not give any exact date for its arrival, saying that it would be available at the start of this year , but now it’s officially here.
In these, Signoy explained that the application would work with all LG televisions using Webos 24 or later, which includes many best televisions that you can buy today. If you do not know if yours is compatible, you can search for your model on the LG website to see the applications it supports.
To use the Philips Hue Sync application, you will need at least one compatible Philips Hue light (The Philips Hue Play Gradient Strip and Philips Hue Play work particularly well), plus a Philips Hue bridge, which creates a network of mesh which connects your shade devices to each other and your Wi-Fi network at home. You can then download the Philips Hue Sync application via the LG Content Store to your TV.
Synchronization alternatives
If you do not have a TV compatible with Hue Sync, you can always synchronize your smart lights with your screen using a HDMI Philips Hue Play synchronization box. It is easy to configure and works with any HDMI input form, including Blu-ray players, decoders and game consoles. However, unlike the Hue Sync application, the synchronization box will not work with native applications on your intelligent television.
This is not cheap either. Last year, meant a version of the synchronization box which supports 8K and HDMI 2.1 televisions, which makes it ideal for the game, but with a price of $ 349.99 / 299.99 £ / 699, $ 95 at is a big investment.
If this is outside your budget, take a look at our guide to the best alternatives from Ambilier, which aim to create a similar effect by using a camera to capture what is on your TV screen, then reflecting the Colors using a LED light strip mounted behind your TV. These systems are not perfect (they have a certain latency and can be affected by reflections on the screen) but are generally much more affordable.
