- Apple has just promised that future iPhone and Apple Watch models will present glass made in the United States
- It is not an entirely integrated or Apple Watch American iPhone
- This is part of a larger investment of $ 600 billion in the US economy of Apple
Although this is not an iPhone that is fully done in the United States, Apple makes fairly important news linked to the equipment alongside a new commitment from the Cupertino-based technology giant to invest a total of $ 600 billion in the American economy in the next five years.
Apple, in a just announced partnership with Corning, will aim to manufacture and produce all glass blankets for the iPhone and Apple Watch in the United States – especially in Corning facilities in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. This is part of a new $ 2.5 billion commitment from Apple and means that once in place, all the glass for the iPhone and Apple Watch models sold worldwide will be made in the United States.
Apple’s partnership with Corning is far from new. While Apple rarely names explicitly names that make which components, it has been known for a long time that they have used a personalized form of glass of gorilla corning. Corning has always been an American company. The news that all iPhone and Apple Watch glass manufacturing inadvertently reveals that Apple may have used several glass suppliers, some from the outside of the United States. However, everything changes now.
More recently, this installation has produced glass called “Ceramic Shield” for the Apple iPhone range. The installation of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, will be used exclusively to make glass for Apple devices in the future. The press release notes that this decision will increase this decision and engineering from Corning by 50% here by 50% and that a combined center for innovation in storm will open nearby.
At a joint conference held at the White House and assisted by Apple CEO, Tim Cook, US President Donald Trump said it was a “intelligent glass production line” would ultimately create 20,000 new American jobs.
Cook actually gave Trump a gift, well, an Apple gift – a piece of corning glass with “ trump ” engraved on it, and a base made from 24 gold karat from UTAH. It could be the first unpacking on the desk resolved, at least carried out by the CEO of Apple.
Overview: Apple’s increase in its investment promised us
Although it is the main news related to equipment as part of Apple’s commitment, the company has promised an additional $ 100 billion in the United States. Previously, total investment was $ 500 billion, which increases to $ 600 billion, which should be finished in the four years.
In addition to the new partnership with Corning, Apple also undertook to work more with other American manufacturers such as Coherent, Globalwafers America (GWA), Applied Materials, Texas Instruments (TI), Samsung, Globalfoundries, Amkor and Broadcom. This is nicknamed the American manufacturing program of Apple and will result in 450,000 tangible jobs created in America in 79 factories.
Beyond the fact that any glass for the iPhone and Apple Watch will be manufactured in the United States, Apple also hopes to create an end-to-end silicon supply chain in America. Apple is already expecting this supply chain to build more than 19 billion chips by the end of 2025 here. Speaking at the White House, Cook said: “American innovation is at the heart of everything we do”, and it is clear that the technology giant is investing more to ensure that this will be the case in the future, especially from the point of view of the building.
Apple’s decision to move a component manufacturing to the United States has just saved it from a 100% price on fleas and semiconductors that Trump announced at the press conference. Trump said that for companies like Apple, “if you are building in the United States or that you are committed to building in the United States, there will be no fees.”
Apple also started building an installation of 250,000 square feet in Houston, Texas, which focuses on the construction of advanced Apple servers, and widens a data center that supports services like Apple TV + and Apple Music to Maiden, in North Carolina.
