- One UI 8.5 could include functionality to manage apps that send ads
- This tool would detect repeat offenders and put them into a deep sleep
- There could be basic and smart versions of the tool
One UI 8.5 could soon be rolling out to your Samsung Galaxy phone, and when it does, it could include a way to stop apps from bothering you with ads in your notifications.
We bet no one likes a notification they receive to be nothing more than an ad, but some apps are guilty of this, and a feature in One UI 8.5 could let you automatically put those apps into deep sleep.

From the included screenshots, it appears there will be two versions of this feature: a “basic blocking” option that will block apps that Samsung has already identified as sending frequent ads, and a “smart blocking” option that will analyze notifications on your phone to determine if they are ads, then block apps that send them frequently.
The description indicates, however, that this smart blocking feature’s evaluation of notifications may not always be accurate.
Either way, by “blocked” Samsung means that it will put the app into deep sleep, which will prevent it from sending notifications or running in the background. However, the app will remain on your device, so if you still want to interact with it, you can open it manually.
One of the many useful upgrades in One UI 8.5
So this seems like a potentially useful feature, particularly if you’ve encountered apps guilty of this practice, and while we always take leaks with a pinch of salt, this comes from a trusted source and the screenshots appear genuine, so it will probably happen.
This isn’t the only handy feature we’re likely to see in One UI 8.5 either, as previous leaks also point out. priority notifications, anti-theft tools, upgraded camera app, and more.
As for when exactly we’ll get all of this, One UI 8.5 is expected to enter open beta in a few days, with the final version likely rolling out alongside the Samsung Galaxy S26 series – which, based on leaks, could land anywhere from January to March.
