Perplexity, the AI search engine, is coming to all 2025 Samsung TVs via a new app that includes a free 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription. And if you own a Samsung TV model 2024 or 2023, you’ll also get the Perplexity AI app later this year via an operating system upgrade.
If you’ve never heard of Perplexity, think of it as a version of ChatGPT that focuses more on finding answers to your questions through web searches. In fact, Perplexity describes itself as an “answer engine.” It is designed to scan credible sources in real time to get accurate answers.
This new app will transform your TV into more than just a screen: it could become a go-to, ultra-smart resource for everything you need. Once Perplexity answers your question, it will suggest additional questions for you to ask, making it much easier to continue the conversation.
“Curiosity can strike at any time. Perplexity’s mission is to serve the world’s curiosity by bridging the gap between traditional search and innovative AI-powered interfaces,” said Ryan Foutty, VP of Business at Perplexity.
“The first Perplexity AI-powered app, now only available on Samsung TVs, expands our Vision AI Platform offering for a more unique and personalized user experience,” said Dan Glassman, Senior Director and Head of New Business Development for Samsung Electronics.
How the Perplexity app works
It’s easy to use the new Perplexity app, just find it in the Applications tab or through Samsung’s Vision AI Companion (which you access via the AI button). Once you agree to the terms and conditions, you are ready to chat with the AI. You can ask for virtually anything, from what to watch on Halloween to help with everyday tasks.
The app defaults to voice commands, but if that’s not your thing, don’t worry, you can always use the on-screen keyboard or even a USB-connected keyboard to type out your questions.
Your Perplexity results appear as high-quality, easy-to-read cards, specially designed to play on your Samsung TV.
12 months of Pro
Samsung’s Vision AI Companion was unveiled at IFA 2025 and is designed to integrate Samsung’s most advanced AI capabilities into a seamless experience.
The 12-month Pro subscription will be available to everyone via a QR code in the app, which you can scan with your phone. The Perplexity Pro experience differs from regular Perplexity because you have access to Pro searches using GPT-5, Claude Sonnet 4.5, or Gemini 2.5 Pro. You also have access to search mode for detailed reports and can create images.
