Zardari, UAE counterpart discuss ways to strengthen strategic partnership

ISLAMABAD:

President Asif Ali Zardari and UAE President and Ruler Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday discussed ways to further deepen the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE.

President Asif Ali Zardari, accompanied by a high-level delegation, met the President of the UAE in Abu Dhabi during an official visit to the UAE, the media wing of the President’s Secretariat said in a press release.

The two leaders reviewed the entire bilateral cooperation and explored new opportunities in the areas of trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, technology and people-to-people exchanges, highlighting the significant potential for expanding the economic and strategic partnership.

President Zardari highlighted the importance of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s recent visit to Pakistan and expressed appreciation for the UAE’s continued support for strengthening bilateral relations.

The meeting was attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, MP, People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan Ambassador to the UAE.

The two sides also exchanged views on a series of regional and international developments and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, stability and sustainable development.

President Zardari’s visit highlighted the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE.

AD port group

President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated AD Ports Group’s long-term investment and growing role in Pakistan’s maritime and logistics sector, describing it as a key pillar of economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.

He highlighted that the group’s ongoing investments in Karachi Port are key to improving the port’s capacity, efficiency and regional competitiveness.

AD Ports Group Managing Director and CEO Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi paid a courtesy visit to the President in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, the Press Wing of the Presidential Secretariat said in a press release.

The meeting was attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, MP, People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Pakistan Ambassador to the UAE.

Both sides agreed that the expansion and modernization of port infrastructure would enhance trade flows and support Pakistan’s broader economic development as well as the country’s maritime trade.

The President welcomed the establishment of AD Ports Group’s representative office in Islamabad and appreciated the group’s collaboration on digital and customs facilitation initiatives aimed at improving trade efficiency.
