- Zotac launched a diagram via its American discord channel
- Active community members can enter a raffle to win the possibility of buying an RTX 5090 or 5080
- It seems that this plan helps fight to beat the scalpers
Nvidia’s new graphics cards race was an unpleasant affair (once again), especially with RTX 5090, because the flagship GPU stock was even rarer than RTX 5080 – but Zotac has a plan to help Authentic buyers (like RTX 5080 – but Zotac has a plan to help authentic buyers (as opposed to scalpers) in the United States.
Videocardz reports that the Discord channel of Zotac in the United States leads an “priority access campaign exclusively for our faithful community” to offer active members the possibility of buying a RTX 5090 or 5080 graphics card.
It is a raffle system, with a chance to buy as a price, and there are attached conditions, as you can expect. In particular a clause according to which any member of discord must have been actively engaged in discussions, challenges, etc., to be eligible. Anyone who joins Spam some three -words messages in the hope of obtaining a purchase will not be (or should not) be taken into account.
Any type of “manipulation” or “cheating” will not be tolerated either, says Zotac. In addition, the manufacturer of the Board of Directors will keep an eye on the resale activity, with GPU standard numbers which are purchased during purchase, and a threat of publicly exposing any caliber which claims its graphics card .
Analysis: Zotac shows the way
Completely how Zotac could control the whole terrain for resellers is not clear, and probably not feasible, but still – I have to admire the position taken here against the scalpors and robots.
These harmful characters make any launch of low storage equipment much more than a nightmare than it should be, so that efforts such as the diagram that Zotac has concocted here must be applauded.
Wondering how Zotac Plan has played so far? According to the Reddit thread that Videocardz took over this development, the Discord channel of Zotac has witnessed a flood of people registering since the announcement.
So, it will certainly generate more trafficking for the chain, clearly, but if a new member made, it is spam waste, they should be eliminated and be ineligible for the Blackwell purchasing raffles.
Those who were active members before the announcement apparently obtained a private channel with separate raffles from the main ones, with much larger chances of winning (like 25%, against less than 1% for the main raffles, we are told , although take this with a certain seasoning).
All this seems fairly well organized, in short.
Why don’t all the graphics card manufacturers follow this path? Well, as Videocardz points out, Zotac is one of the smallest outfits of the biggest manufacturers (if you get what I mean), and it’s probably many headaches for some of the biggest operations of The GPU sphere to manage a program such as that.
However, the strengthening of defenses against scalping more broadly with regard to popular launches such as RTX 5000 GPUs are well worth thinking, for retailers and NVIDIA advice. Unfortunately, what we have seen elsewhere are the prices requested official from the manufacturers of graphics themselves crawling, or even jump, in reaction to the thin offer in the face of a high demand – therefore, which would be a start is Don’t do that, please.
We are trying to help as best we can, thanks to our guides on the place where to buy an RTX 5080 today and also our RTX 5090 Graphics Card Finder. Good luck, GPU hunters, but of course, if you are already on Zotac discord, you have to put yourself in the lottery there.
