The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, appointed Pachtunkhwi Mill Awami Chief (PKMAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly and Senator Azam Swati was appointed on opposition Wednesday, the general Salman of the PTI.
The decision was made following the electoral commission for the notification of Pakistan (ECP) disqualifying Omar Ayub as the NA and Shibli Faraz opposition as the leader of the opposition Senate following their conviction in the cases of May 9. Besides Ayub and Faraz, the dozens of MNA and MPA of PTI were also disqualified by ECP after their conviction in the riot of May 9.
Speaking of the media outside the Supreme Court, Raja said that the founder of the PTI had asked for a list of five names for the niche of the opposition chief at the Punjab assembly in order to choose the most appropriate candidate.
It is relevant to mention that Ayub and Faraz had moved the High Court of Peshawar (PHC) following their disqualification by the ECP. In response to their pleadings, the PHC remained the appointments of opposition leaders to the National Assembly and the Senate and asked for the response to the ECP.
