PBC rejects changes to ATA

Islamabad:

On Wednesday, the Pakistan Bar Council rejected the changes to article 11EEE of the 1997 law against terrorism, in which law enforcement organizations and the armed forces are authorized to hold suspects for three months.

In a resolution adopted by the body which met under the chairmanship of Chaudhry Tahir Nasrullah Warraich, vice, the participants of the meeting expressed their serious concerns on the amendment and declared that each individual had the right and the opportunity of a regular procedure and an equitable trial as being entered in articles 4 and 10a of the Constitution.
